Hydraulic goods elevators use a hydraulic system to lift and lower the platform/cage used for the movement of cargo. The lift comprises of a cylinder, when the hydraulic fluid flows into the cylinder, it pushes against a piston causing the lift to move. The hydraulic fluid here is usually oil, the same is pumped into the cylinder using an electric motor. Further, the motor is controlled by a switch, that allows the operator to control the movement of the lift with ease.
